The Alabama International Film Festival in cooperation with TROY University's College of Communication and Fine Arts and Mobile Filmworks premiered a new festival format in 2011. Selected films were screened online by thousands of TROY University students in locations worldwide. This global audience selected the top films in the categories of feature, documentary, short, and animated films. The winners received screenings at select TROY University campuses worldwide through the months of May and June. A special showcase of Alabama-connected films accompanied the second round of screenings.
